Resident Evil Vendetta Plot Summary

WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW

• Leon is spying on a house in a wealthy Maryland neighborhood looking for a traitor, Steven Air, a Senator who sold info to bio-terror organizations

• Many people in the US government were traitors and Simmons’ accomplices

• As Steven’s car drives into the house, a bomb hidden in a DSO SUV explodes, killing 3 DSO Agents. Leon concludes that there was a traitor on the inside who warned Steven of the ambush

• The next day, Leon visits a morgue where the dead bodies of the DSO members lay

• Leon begins to get depressed and starts reflecting back on the kind of person he thought he wanted to grow up to be when he was a kid

• Some of the body bags in the morgue begin to move. Zombies?
  
  

• Iztaccihuatl Volcano, Mexico. The Mexican Army’s vehicles and helicopters are in the area

• Inside one of the choppers are 20 soldiers and one BSAA member: Chris Redfield. This is a joint-operation between the BSAA and Mexican Army (called GAFE)

• Chris is participating in the mission as an observer

• One of the Mexican soldiers asks Chris about his history fighting BOW, and Chris explains the process of friends and loved ones becoming zombies

• The target of this mission is a man named Glenn Arias, an internationally wanted felon who sells illegal weaponry (BOWs)

• They are also looking for 3 missing people, a female BSAA agent named Cassy White and her two sons

• They fly towards Glenn Arias’ mansion in the mountainous woods, which is similar to the Spencer Mansion

• They penetrate the mansion in 5 different squads (A, B, C, D, E) and explore it - Chris is part of Squad B

• Some members of the Mexican army unit become zombies and Chris is forced to kill them; others are killed by traps laid out in the mansion

• Glenn Arias appears and burns Squad D to death after they are chopped up by hidden slings, which then causes the rest of the mansion to begin burning

• Chris manages to be the only one to evacuate, but injures his right leg after jumping out of the building

• Chris encounters Arias and attempts to fight him

• Chris has actually studied jiujitsu in the past, which he uses to fight Arias, but Arias seems to be just as capable of fighting back and manages to beat Chris

• Arias’ past is shrouded in mystery, but the BSAA traced him back as former CIA before he became an arms dealer

• Arias disarms Chris and even shoots him; Chris’ body armor saves him

• A giant male BOW appears with Cassy White and her sons, having mutated into zombies, in its arms and releases them to devour Chris

• Glenn Arias loses interest in killing Chris himself and leaves the BSAA captain to be killed by zombies

• The Mexican army helicopter shows up just in time to save Chris; they kill the zombified Cassy White

• Flashback to a few years back, at Glenn Arias’ wedding with a woman named Sarah

• Glenn Arias is actually his third alias

• During the wedding, a precision bomb goes off in the white chapel, killing everyone except Diego and Glenn (Glenn’s brother, sister, cousin and Sarah are killed)

• Glenn survives because Diego protects him, but Glenn resents Diego for not protecting Sarah instead

• Chicago, IL, at a university science research center

• Rebecca Chambers is a uni professor and a top researcher of diseases

• Rebecca is an advisor to both the BSAA and DSO

• At the research center, Rebecca researches cures for viruses and is trying to craft one for some new virus using supercomputers

• Rebecca and her post-doctorate colleague, Aaron, are researching a new, ferocious virus

• This new virus is different in that it seems to be spreading over a wide area this time

• CSS (Computer Chemistry System) is a supercomputer capable of analyzing DNA, other data and even manufacturing products like a 3D printer does

• They receive 30 dead infected bodies to conduct research on; Aaron ponders taking a sample, which leaves Rebecca suspicious

• Later, Rebecca looks at two photos: one of her with the Bravo Team, and one of her and Chris, Jill and Wesker

• Aaron inspects one of the dead bodies, which appears to be a BSAA woman with blonde hair - the body begins to move; is it really dead?

• Rebecca produces a test vaccine on the CSS and then suddenly the research center loses power

• The facility is under attack, and a mysterious woman releases BOW gas into the facility while other soldiers storm in

• Rebecca attempts to escape but runs into a zombified Aaron, who she manages to kill

• New virus seems to be airborne

• Rebecca discovers a bottle of water manufactured by AGUA Industries

• Rebecca is ambushed by some guy named Jones, who she attempts to fight off

• The woman in the body bag Aaron was investigated is a woman named Maria Gomez, who seems to be reanimated and very much alive

• Maria hacks into CSS and steals all the data before blowing the building up

• Chris shows up with the BSAA and rescues Rebecca

• Rebecca and Chris brief each other on what happened; the virus Rebecca was researching might have been Glenn Arias’ work

• The BSAA takes Rebecca to a hotel where she recovers and changes into an outfit resembling her original S.T.A.R.S. uniform

• Rebecca watches the news and sees that there have been incidents occurring in Minnesota, Canada, etc.

• Chris goes into Rebecca’s hotel room, where she tells him her test cure is effective against the virus

• Rebecca wants the BSAA to mass-produce the cure, but Chris says the BSAA can’t because it’s not allowed to operate in US jurisdiction

• Chris tells Rebecca about Glenn, and how he is following in Neo Umbrella and Tricell’s footsteps of selling BOW to war-torn countries and shady organizations

• The nucleotides in the New Virus seem similar to the ones found in Las Plagas, which was harnessed by Los Illuminados, the organization that kidnapped Ashley Graham before being taken down by a certain man

• The BSAA and Rebecca are driving through the Rocky Mountains

• BSAA Members DC, Nadia and Damien are introduced

• Chris and Rebecca pay Leon a visit at a resort in Colorado

• Leon is hungover from heavy drinking

• Leon seems to have met Rebecca before

• Chris asks Leon to help him with a mission as Leon had been the one who encountered the Los Illuminados

• Leon is very drunk and uninterested in what Chris is telling him - he tries to order another beer, and Chris tries to intervene

• Rebecca apologizes for bothering Leon while he’s on vacation, saying they need his help; Leon finally listens

• Glenn Arias is spying on the three through a hidden camera; Maria Gomez is with him

• He focuses on Rebecca, who’s supposed to be infected with the “Animality Virus” but hasn’t mutated

• Leon explains the botched arrest of the Senator earlier, as well as his constant participation in the fight against BOWs; he seems to be having a crisis in confidence

• Chris explains to Leon that Glenn became an arms dealer after his wedding was ruined by the explosion perpetrated by a black ops mission

• Leon is still uninterested in helping Chris out

• Rebecca cuts in, saying that Chris and Leon can’t come to an understanding when Chris is feeling vengeful and Leon is feeling remorseful

• Rebecca then injects herself with the vaccine, which also gathers a sample of her blood

• Rebecca tells Leon and Chris that everyone is already infected

• Rebecca doesn’t know what triggers the mutations, but she believes that Arias holds the trigger

• Rebecca’s test cure worked, but without knowing how the virus works in detail, Rebecca isn’t sure how long it can be effective

• Rebecca leaves

• Chris tells Leon how tough the Lianshang incident was, which took place not too long ago

• Chris confesses to Leon that he had wanted to leave the BSAA

• Chris tells Leon that he had experiences the same feelings Leon is experiencing now (after their comrades were killed)

• But Chris says that they can’t quit; otherwise their comrades will have died in vain. As survivors of Raccoon City, it’s a battle they’ve inevitably become part of

• Leon tells Chris that he shot the President, an incident that’s haunted him ever since

• Every time Leon looks at the current President, he always feels unease

• One of President Benford’s assistants had sold information to shady organizations - perhaps the Defense Chief or Vice President may be doing that as well

• Patricio, a Spanish guy Leon knows, shows up

• Patricio seems to have been working with Los Illuminados

• Rebecca goes to the restroom, where she is ambushed by Maria Gomez, who Rebecca concludes is infected with a virus

• Leon confronts Patricio, who acted as a contact between Los Illuminados and the outside world, and asks what he’s doing

• Patricio became a narcotics dealer after Los Illuminados was destroyed, and his daughter is a stripper

• Outside, Maria is carrying an unconscious Rebecca when DC, Nadia and Damien confront her

• Maria manages to kick their ass pretty easily

• Two cars drive up to the hotel, and Diego Gomez, the giant BOW guy, appears with a giant gatling gun and starts shooting at Leon, Chris and Patricio

• The three survive, and then Diego starts blasting the building with a Grenade Launcher

• Patricio, whose been shot in the stomach, hands Leon his cell phone, telling him he doesn’t want to die; however Leon is unable to protect him

• Rebecca is taken away, but DC, Damien and Nadia survive

• Chris vows to rescue Rebecca, while Leon jokes about how he’s used to being taken advantage of by women

• Patricio’s phone rings; it’s his daughter calling, asking what happened to her father

• Leon just hangs the phone up

• Leon agrees to help the BSAA search for Arias

• New York City, 6PM.

• Glenn Arias is on top of a skyscraper gazing at Manhattan

• Rebecca, whose been induced with sleeping pills, has a nightmare about the various outbreaks happening recently

• She wakes up and finds herself dressed up in a Pronovias wedding dress in an exact replica of the wedding chapel Arias got married in

• Arias speaks to Rebecca about the cure she made for the Animality Virus, or a-Virus for short

• Arias explains that a-Virus creatures can distinguish friend from foe

• There are three types of a-Virus strains: the Base Virus for the basic infection, the Trigger Virus for causing the infection to occur, and the Inactive Virus used to ensure that you will not be attacked by other infectees

• Rebecca concludes that Glenn put the Base Virus in the drinking water supply

• The outbreaks have been occurring in the Great Lakes area, but Rebecca says that Arias didn’t intend to infect them through that means

• The Trigger Virus on the other hand is an airborne virus

• Chris, Leon and the BSAA Silver Dagger crew are in a plane analyzing Rebecca’s laptop for information

• Leon inserts the SD card from Patricio’s phone into Rebecca’s laptop, confident he left a hint for them

• Rebecca and Arias are still chatting, and it’s revealed that they are inside his apartment

• Arias tells Rebecca that the three a-Viruses are classified as a-Virus I, a-Virus II and a-Virus III

• When combined with the a-Virus cure Rebecca concocted, the result is Apoptosis

• Rebecca says the BSAA are already ready to reproduce the cure, but Arias says that her cure is incomplete and that he has taken Rebecca’s blood and is attempting to enhance the virus

• Arias is planning an apocalyptic event for the next day

• Rebecca asks Arias why he’s set her up in a wedding ceremony

• Arias confesses that Rebecca resembles his late wife, but also reminds her that he hasn’t lost his mind

• Arias threatens Rebecca - if she doesn’t marry him, he will make her compliant by infecting her with the a-Virus

• Arias frees Rebecca, pulls out a box with his late wife’s arm in it, takes the ring from its finger and tries to put it on Rebecca

• Rebecca tries to resist, but is overpowered by Arias

• The mansion is essentially Arias’ fortress, complete with a lab, supercomputer, etc.

• Diego is in a tube resting, while Maria is fiddling with computers — she looks at Diego and calls him “Father”

• The upcoming apocalypse is Arias’ revenge, as well as that of the Gomez’s

• DC uses Rebecca’s information and his hacking techniques to discover Arias’ hideout in NYC, where they head to next

• DC also discovers information about a-Virus II and a-Virus III

• Rebecca asks Arias what his purpose is - revenge?

• Arias says that it was an organization that killed his wife; he thinks it’s fine to blame all of a society as a result

• Arias then asks if Rebecca has ever seen a zombie rape someone, or if two zombies have ever had sex

• Arias then talks about unmanned drones/vehicles and the people who are killed by them

• Arias also mentions survival of the fittest and the history of humanity (how the Homo Sapiens erased the Homo Erectus, Neanderthals, etc. before going on a tirade about how defective humans and society are

• More information about human’s hunger urges and other biological talk

• Arias says that by removing the primordial desires, including sexual desire, contradictory actions such as rape would disappear

• Arias tells Rebecca he will infect all of NYC with the a-Virus, which is superior to viruses of the past, and avenge the flaws of humanity

• Rebecca still refuses to put the ring on, and Arias calls his subordinate to take Rebecca to the lab and infect her with the strongest form of the a-Virus

• If the infection goes well, Arias tells the subordinate to cut her arm off and put his wife’s ring on the finger
  
  

• Chris, Leon and Silver Dagger arrive in NYC, where the infection and pandemic have begun

• The BSAA and NYPD are dealing with the crisis

• The BSAA have three goals: Stop the Trigger Virus from being exploded in a tank trunk, save Rebecca and secure the safety apparatuses. Oh, and fourth, to kill Arias

• DC finds out where Arias’s hideout his through Patricio’s SD card, as well as the location of the safety apparatus

• They encounter zombie dogs, which are enhanced thanks to the Trigger Virus

• Chris heads for Arias’ apartment with Nadia and DC, while Leon and Damien go off on Ducatti motorbike adventures with the zombie dogs

• Maria tries to kill Leon, but fails

• Chris, Nadia and DC kill a bunch of zombies in Arias’ hideout

• Arias appears and tells Chris he has infected Rebecca with the virus, telling him he’ll have to shooter another female companion (like Cassy)

• Maria appears and shoots DC, who isn’t dead but is injured

• Although they successfully disarm the tank trunks with the Trigger Virus, Damien’s bike is destroyed, and appears to die while admiring Leon for riding the thing and shooting/jumping from it like it was nothing

• Leon goes to Arias’ hideout, where he sneaks up on Maria in a narrow hallway and blows her up with a grenade

• Leon runs into Chris, DC and Nadia; Leon tells Chris that Damien was killed

• Leon stays with Nadia and DC to protect them; Chris goes ahead to find Arias

• Chris busts into the lab where Rebecca is being held, and a scientist tries to throw a scalpel at him (lol) but fails; Chris kicks the scientist and KOs him

• Chris frees Rebecca, but Diego and Arias arrive; Arias says Chris hs 30 minutes to save Rebecca

• Chris and Rebecca run away to the top of Arias’ hideout, but Rebecca’s infection is already slowing her down and her face is changing color

• Diego is about to kill Chris and Rebecca, when the BSAA plane shows up and shoots Diego with a rocket

• Chris returns to the lab with Rebecca, kicks the scientist again, and then finds a-Virus III, which he thinks will stop Rebecca’s worsening infection via Apoptosis

• Chris returns to fight Arias, and they have a martial arts-esque showdown

• Chris manages to kick Arias through a stained glass window, where he plunges 50 meters to his apparent death

• Diego, having been blasted earlier, is becoming stronger due to being infected with an a-Virus/refined t-Virus combination

• Diego is due to mutate if Arias dies — that’s the Trigger

• Arias and Diego mutate into some combined gigantic 5-meter BOW, which is how Arias can remain alive

• Chris only has 10 minutes left to save Rebecca

• Leon shows up as Diego-Arias is about to kill Chris; Leon rides the Ducatti toward Diego-Arias, jumps off right before it collides with the BOW, when he then blows it up

• Leon tells Chris to save Rebecca

• Chris injects a-Virus III into Rebecca and the cure works

• Leon is still battling Diego-Arias, but none of his weapons work and he gets hut

• Chris appears and tries shooting Arias as well, but to no avail

• DC and Nadia return in the BSAA plane; Nadia shoots Diego-Arias with a rail gun, and then DC throws Chris a grenade launcher

• Leon tosses two grenades at Diego-Arias as Chris shoots them with the launcher, finishing them off

• Arias’ wife’s ring emerges from the BOW carcass and lands at Chris and Leon’s feet

• NYC is saved!

• They get back on the chopper and sprinkle the a-Virus III across the sky, where Rebecca believes it will reach the general population and cure them

• In the epilogue, Maria Gomez emerges from the Arias mansion rubble. She intercepts a BSAA message stating that her father and Arias are dead. She plots revenge against those who killed them because that’s how children are programmed to behave in society.
