An Update Regarding Itchy, Tasty

As many readers know, back in 2019, I collaborated with UK-based Unbound Publishing to bring my book, Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil to print. Unbound launched a crowdfunding campaign to collect the funds needed to bring the project to life. The campaign was a success, and reached its funding target in December 2019, a little under three months after launch.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic brought some difficulty to the production process, Itchy, Tasty was ultimately published as a hardcover and e-book in March 2021, in time for the 25th anniversary of Resident Evil.

Critical response to Itchy, Tasty was more positive than I ever imagined, and to this day, I am blessed to receive praise from readers newly discovering the story I tell in the book. Itchy, Tasty was republished as a more affordable paperback edition in 2023, as well as localized into French, European Spanish, Polish, and Russian. As of mid-2024, the book, in all of its languages and formats, has sold over 10,000 copies worldwide. This is a level of success I could never have dreamed of.

However, in late 2024, Unbound Publishing’s financial difficulties were made public. Authors, including myself, had not been paid royalties owed during the second half of 2024. In March 2025, after failing to secure the financial backing it needed, Unbound announced it was going into administration (in other words, declaring bankruptcy). While Unbound and its de facto successor, Boundless, have vowed to pay owed amounts to its authors, including myself, I have ultimately made the decision to revert publishing rights for Itchy, Tasty back to me. As of March 31, 2025, the book is now technically being self-published, as I seek a new publisher to reissue the book in the future.

Until that happens, Itchy, Tasty is currently out of print. There are still copies of the paperback for sale on Amazon, but once that runs out, there will not be any replenishment of stock, at least of the English edition as previously distributed by Unbound.

How to purchase Itchy, Tasty in 2025

As a temporary stopgap measure, I have begun selling the paperback version of Itchy, Tasty on my personal website. These are copies that Unbound provided to me as part of the reversion of publishing rights to me as the rightful author. For those interested, I am happy to personalize and autograph copies for a small fee of US$10.00. Ultimately, my goal is to keep Itchy, Tasty accessible to Resident Evil fans during the transition.

Of course, you may continue to purchase the book on Amazon or other bookstores, but purchasing from my site directly supports my work.

Thank you again for all your support!
